In honor of Reformation Day: “A Mighty Fortress is Our God”

October 31, 2007

Today is Reformation Day, the commemoration of Luther’s nailing of the Ninety-Five Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg 490 years ago.  From the Center for Church Music, here is a mp3 performance of A Mighty Fortress is Our God that is a fitting commemoration for this day.

I also enjoyed this sermon, “A Reformation Lament.”

    [audio src="http://www.trinity-pres.net/audio/sermon07-10-28.mp3" /]

It talks about the necessity of the Reformation and the good that came from it…but also the dark side of of the sectarianism that followed.

    JSP,

Thank you for that link–a really interesting talk about the Reformation and its consequences. I’ll post that link as a post tonight.
