The Rev. David Platt on the message of biblical Christianity

April 28, 2012

Lately I have been reading the book Radical by David Platt, pastor of the Church at Brook Hills near where I live.  In some ways he reminds me of The Cost of Discipleship, and I like his passion for living life God-centered.  Perhaps this short excerpt will show a hint of this:

The message of biblical Christianity is not ‘God loves me, period,’ as if we were the object of our own faith. The message of biblical Christianity is ‘God loves me so that I might make him—his ways, his salvation, his glory, and his greatness—known among all nations.’ Now God is the object of our faith, and Christianity centers around him. We are not the end of the gospel; God is.

This certainly fits in with Revelation 4:11 – “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.”
