Now available online: “Equipped to Preach the Word” – a new resource by David Jackman

March 1, 2016

From Proclamation Trust, here is a new resource, Equipped to Preach the Word, by David Jackman.  The website’s notes say that

The purpose of this series of videos and accompanying manuals is to put resources into the hands of those who long, under God, to train up a new generation of faithful and effective Bible preachers.

Topics include: the nature and necessity of revelation, interpretation and application; apostolic priorities and practice; contemporary challenges in the culture and the church; careful reading and thoughtful analysis of Scripture; watching your life and doctrine; the Word of Christ dwelling in us richly.

This course helps you to train others to acquire and develop the necessary practical tools and skills to expound the Bible’s message. This includes both the preparation of the text and the presentation of the preaching, so as to connect that message to our contemporary cultures. The course seeks also to motivate the preacher to progress and perseverance, through spiritual encouragement, not only to be a skilled workman, but also to be maturing as a humble servant, whom God can use.

This seems to me to be a very helpful resource – please check out Equipped to Preach the Word.

Thank you Will for this Link. Most useful and I have shared it with my Son David who is a Pastor in Carrubberrs Christian Centre, Royal Mile, Edinburgh. He has responsibility for Young People and Students in a City with four Universities!

Have a “Super Tuesday” and as they say in Ulster “vote early, vote often”!!

Andrew, I hope your son finds that link useful in his ministry!

This IS a crucial election year in the USA and I suppose you folk in the UK have a big election coming up, with the “Brexit” vote later in the year!

Indeed we do Will. Those who wish to remain are running a fear campaign and withholding important information from those who wish to leave. Those for “Brexit” now have some “big hitters” on board so all to fight for.

Personally, I will be voting to leave. We want control of our Borders, Courts and Parliament returned to us, this failed experiment has gone on too long.

I think I would be voting the same way, were I a citizen of the UK. The weaknesses of the EU just seem to be revealed more fully now in light of the current crisis precipitated by the “immivasion”.

Imagine Greece, the “Cradle of Democracy”, financially ruined and now overrun by Islamic migrants, you couldn’t make it up Will!

You are so right! And what is stumping me about Greece is this: how does Europe reverse this? Even if the rest of Europe somehow can stop being overrun, what happens to Greece?
I suppose on one level I have always realized we live in history ourselves – but I have never really thought about our times being historic until this past year. But this is a civilization-changing epoch, to say the least.

And the reason that my interest in Bible Prophecy is not a dull Theological study Will, it is really happening in plain sight before our very eyes!

That same thought has occurred to me – that we could well be seeing the fulfillment of prophecy. This is certainly a good time to be searching the Scriptures and asking the Lord for discernment.
