Dr. Albert Mohler on Trump’s election
Dr. Albert Mohler of the Southern Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention had a rather good column on Donald Trump’s election as President of the United States, titled Trump elected 45th President of the US: Understanding the electoral forces behind a stunning victory. (You can hear the podcast here.) I wanted to highlight something Dr. Mohler wrote that is absolutely our responsibility:
Similarly, it now falls to the American people, all of us, to hope for and to pray for Donald Trump as he assumes this responsibility. We must pray as Christians that God will guide him to be an even better President of the United States than he might even intend to be, and we should say that of anyone who was elected to this high office. We should understand the awesome responsibilities that are invested in this constitutional office, and we should understand that there will be enormous tests that will come to Donald Trump not only as President of the United States, but even in the time that he is President-elect.
May we all pray this for Donald Trump, that he will be just that: “an even better President of the United States than he might even intend to be”, and that he will meet any tests that confront him in a way that strengthens the United States.
