A brief thought on Hebrews 11:6

April 7, 2017

Today at a Bible study we looked at Hebrews 11:6, which says:

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

The point was made that not only should we remember that God “rewards those who seek him”, we should honor Him as the Rewarder.  After thinking about that, isn’t that part of the problem with such ideas as the “prosperity doctrine” or “name it and claim it” – that the focus is on the reward rather than the rewarder?  It is amazing how clear things can be “viewed through the lens of Scripture.”
