From the Beeson Institute of Anglican Studies: a podcast on “Sola Scriptura and the Church”

October 26, 2019

I came across another podcast from the Beeson Institute of Anglican Studies that is interesting to me because it addresses sola scriptura.  Its title is Sola Scriptura and the Church and it features Prof. Carl Beckwith, who is Professor of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School where he teaches church history and doctrine. His research interests include the Trinitarian and Christological thought of the Early Church Fathers, the use of the Fathers by the Reformers, and Lutheran theology. He is the author of Hilary of Poitiers on the Trinity (Oxford University), Johann Gerhard’s Handbook of Consolations (Wipf & Stock); Ezekiel and Daniel in the Reformation Commentary on Scripture series (IVP), The Holy Trinity, volume 3 of the Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics series (Luther Academy), and Martin Luther’s Basic Exegetical Writings (Concordia Publishing House).

In this podcast Prof. Beckwith sits down with Gerald McDermott of Beeson to discuss sola scriptura and the role of the church in biblical interpretation.  (The transcript can be read here.)
