The Rev. Dr. Lee Gatiss: “The Anglican Doctrine of the Visible Church”

June 1, 2020

From Church Society in the UK, here is an in-depth talk by Lee Gatiss on The Anglican Doctrine of the Visible Church, which I think is very well-done.  In the talk, he looks at claims about the structure and leadership of the church and especially Article 19’s teaching that ‘The visible Church of Christ is a congregation of faithful men in which the pure Word of God is preached, and the sacraments be duly ministered according to Christ’s ordinance in all those things that of necessity are requisite to the same.’   Among other things, he concludes with 10 challenges which a proper understanding of Anglican ecclesiology brings for us today.  I think you will find a lot to think about in this talk.  The blog post goes into more detail, but the video is below.
